1. About this Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Zambezi Strategy Group (“ZSG”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at zambezistrategy.com (the “Website”).

ZSG is a pan-African luxury brand strategy and market-entry consultancy. Our Website provides information about our services, expertise, commercial activities and opportunities to contact us.

This Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, the categories we use, why we use them, how long they remain on your device, how we obtain and manage your consent, how you can change your preferences, and how to contact us.

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal data more generally.

Where third-party services place cookies or access information on your device, those providers may also have responsibilities under applicable data protection law. Further information is provided in Section 7.

3. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files or similar technologies that are placed on, or accessed from, your computer, mobile phone, tablet or other device when you visit a website.

Cookies may allow a website to function correctly, remember your preferences, improve security, understand how visitors use the website, measure performance, or support marketing and advertising activities. Similar technologies may include pixels, tags, scripts, local storage and other technologies that store or access information on your device. For the purposes of this Policy, we use the term “cookies” to include these technologies where appropriate.

4. The Legal Framework

Our use of cookies and similar technologies is governed principally by UK law: the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), which regulates the storage of, and access to, information on a user’s device; the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018, which apply where cookies or similar technologies involve the processing of personal data; and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, which introduced certain exceptions relating to cookies and similar technologies. We assess whether any exception applies to a particular technology based on its purpose and implementation, and review our practices against relevant guidance issued by the Information Commissioner’s Office (“ICO”).

5. The Types of Cookies We Use

5.1 Strictly necessary
These are necessary for the operation, security or functionality of the Website, such as remembering your cookie preferences. Consent is generally not required for cookies that satisfy the applicable strictly-necessary exception, and we do not classify a cookie as strictly necessary merely because it is useful to us.

5.2 Analytics and statistical cookies
These would help us understand how visitors interact with our Website — for example, number of visitors, pages visited and time on site. We do not currently use any analytics cookies or services on this Website. If we introduce one in future (for example, Google Analytics or a similar provider), we will update this Policy and the cookie register in Section 6 first, and will obtain consent before doing so where required.

5.3 Functionality and preference cookies
These would allow the Website to remember choices or provide enhanced functionality, such as language or display preferences. We do not currently use any functionality or preference cookies on this Website beyond the strictly necessary cookie described in Section 6.

5.4 Marketing and advertising cookies
These would measure marketing campaign performance, support remarketing, or deliver personalised advertising. We do not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies on this Website. ZSG does not use marketing cookies simply because it operates a commercial website; if we introduce any, we will identify them here and obtain consent where required.

6. Cookies Currently Used on Our Website

We maintain this register of the cookies and similar technologies actually used on our Website, and will update it whenever that changes.

Name Provider Purpose Category Duration
zsg_cookie_prefs Zambezi Strategy Group (first-party) Remembers your cookie preferences so we don’t ask again on every visit Strictly Necessary Persistent — stored in your browser until you clear it or change your preferences

This is the only cookie or similar technology currently set by this Website. We do not currently use analytics, functionality/preference, or marketing cookies of any kind.

7. Third-Party Services

Our Website loads typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com) to display its typography. This does not set cookies, but it does mean your browser connects directly to Google’s servers to retrieve the font files, which may transmit your IP address to Google as part of that request. Google’s handling of this information is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.

Our Website may also contain links to third-party websites, platforms, publications or social networks, including LinkedIn and X (Twitter). These operate independently from ZSG, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices, security or content.

We may use website hosting and security providers (Netlify) to serve this Website. Where any third-party service places its own cookies or accesses information on your device, we will identify it in Section 6 and obtain consent where required.

8. How We Obtain Your Consent

Where consent is required, we request it before placing or accessing the relevant non-exempt cookies or similar technologies. Our cookie preference panel lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, select individual categories, and view information about each category’s purpose. We do not treat continued browsing, scrolling or inactivity as consent, and we do not pre-select optional cookie categories.

9. Withdrawing or Changing Your Consent

You can change or withdraw your cookie preferences at any time using the “Manage Cookies” link in the footer of any page, which reopens the preference panel. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn. You may also manage cookies through your browser settings, though this may not provide the same level of category-by-category control as our own preference panel.

10. How Long Cookies Remain on Your Device

Session cookies generally expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a specified period, or until deleted. The retention period for each cookie or similar technology we use is identified in the register in Section 6, and we review these periods to ensure they remain appropriate to their purpose.

11. International Data Transfers

Where a third-party provider used by our Website processes information outside the United Kingdom — for example, Google in connection with font delivery — we rely on the safeguards required by applicable UK data protection law. Further information about international transfers of personal data is available in our Privacy Policy.

12. Your Data Protection Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction or deletion of, restriction of processing of, or portability of your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to legal exceptions. Further information is available in our Privacy Policy. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you believe your personal data has been processed unlawfully: ico.org.uk.

14. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies and similar technologies used on our Website, our service providers, applicable law or regulatory guidance, or our business operations. The latest version will be published on this page with its “Last updated” date. We encourage visitors to review this Policy periodically.
